HOW TO GET HERE
As Kaipūpū sanctuary is separated from the mainland by a predator proof fence, public access is only possible via water.
There are a number of water taxi options in the area. Please book directly through these operators, they are all located on the Picton Waterfront off London Quay.
Alternatively you can take your own boat or kayak. There is a floating jetty and a kayak ramp at Dolphin Bay on the western side. Kaipūpū Sanctuary is open every day of the year and welcomes your donation.

WALKING TRACKS
Allow 1.5 – 2 hours for the 2.7km circular loop track, or 45 minutes (return) to the northern lookout.
The first part of the track is moderately steep, but short. Take your time, stop for a breather and enjoy the stunning views of Tōtaranui (Queen Charlotte Sound).
REMEMBER – If you bring food for a picnic or snack, we request that you take ALL rubbish home with you. Please don’t feed any animals or birds. Human food can be dangerous to their health.
Track maintenance
As we are non-profit community group, donations are encouraged to cover track maintenance and running costs. There is a donation box near the Jetty when you arrive, or you can donate here.
